Rising Sun

While supplies last we are continuing with our great coffee giveaway bonanza. With any purchase in the shop you will receive a free bag of Rising Sun coffee. It is the result of our latest obsession with coffee. As crafting well appointed clothing is our passion and forte we have partnered up with local experts at Jones Coffee Roasters to bring our vision to fruition.

Purist coffee marketers may rail on about the allure of single origin or even single crop coffees. In that case the roaster’s own family farm, Finca Dos Marias, in Guatemala would have been perfect and, well, easy. The mountains of San Marcos are along the Ring of Fire whose soils produce beans that are sweet and fruity. But after much experimentation and consideration our propreitor Mike Hodis decided on a blend of arabica Kenyan, Ethiopian and Indonesian beans that Jones roasts right here in Pasadena. The choice came from the need to bring forth a flavor that conveyed the Rising Sun sentiment. It is full of body yet well balanced. Having low acidity was also important to capture the quintessential Rising Sun character. When brewed correctly the winey blackberry finish is quite distinct. In our attempts we’ve learned that getting the right blend is very difficult and an art in its own right.
