Well the weather is getting warmer and it is time to downsize from your winter coat to something more practical for the season. We just recently finished up some indigo canvas vests and are now finishing up some of our Outdoor Vests in our classic brown duck. These are the perfect warm weather layer to stash your keys, notepad, loose change, Chapstick, sunscreen, carburetor parts, mobile devices, pheasant, quail, rabbit… you get the idea, it’s super handy for carrying things and for keeping your core warm when you need it and cool when you don’t. They look great with denim and you can dress them up with a work shirt or just wear it like me with a plain t shirt underneath. Call or email if you are interested we have them in sizes XS-XL (size guide below).
We thought the day would never come, but we were finally able to get our hands on some more Cone Mills indigo dyed canvas. This indigo dyed selvage canvas is a great way to add more indigo to your wardrobe without succumbing to the dreaded “Canadian Tuxedo”. The first order of business was to make more of our all indigo Outdoor Vest. This item has only been made in small runs in the past and is something that we constantly get requests for. We are happy to have it in our line up once again. Below are some Pictures of Julian of Julian Boots in his 2 year old indigo canvas Outdoor Vest.
And finally here are some pictures of our new batch of Outdoor Vests. We have sizes XS-XL in stock now!
Recently the show Twin Peaks turned 20 years old and to celebrate an art exhibit was held. We at Rising Sun were asked to produce some memorabilia from the fictional town of Twin Peaks for this event. Specifically we created work aprons and shirts from the shows “Packard Sawmill”. This was a fun opportunity for us as we have a fondness for vintage work aprons. There are a few aprons and shirts still available for sale here (bottom of the page).
Additionally we made some work aprons for our shop. We hope to have more available soon for purchasing.
Well it has been a while, but we finally have some more Julian boots in our shop. Check them out and act fast if you are interested in a pair as we don’t have many.
We have three size small Salt and Pepper work shirts here in our Pasadena shop. As a follow up the big and tall sized vests we just did, we are offering some great work shirts for some of our smaller fans. Here are some pictures. Enjoy!
On a recent trip to Japan, Mike came across a Rising Sun enthusiast who needed a repair done to his Rising Sun Standards. Junya had been wearing his RS Standards for about two years and was in need of a seat repair. This is a common repair required on just about all jeans that have been worn in to this extreme. Mike offered Junya an alternative. Mike traded Junya’s old Standards for a new pair. As you can see from the pictures these jeans are a great example of how good your denim can look if never washed.
We would like to offer the same deal to one (or maybe more) of our readers. If you have a well worn pair of Rising Sun jeans, take some pictures and email them to us at email hidden; JavaScript is required. Send the pictures along with your address and we will send you a small gift in return. For some, we will offer the opportunity to trade your pair for a new pair, of the same style, and your Jeans will retire next to Junya’s into the Rising Sun Hall of Fame.
Well many of you are familiar with our Outdoor Vest. This is probably the one garment that we have the most fun with over here at Rising Sun. We are always trying out different combinations of fabrics and producing special small batches. Well our newest version might be the best yet. We used up the small amount of indigo dyed selvage canvas we had been holding onto and we combined it with the selvage canvas that we used on our Deadgrass pants. They work great together and the selvage detailing is really cool. Because we have been out of stock on larger sizes of vests for some time, and we wanted to redeem ourselves to our larger fans, we only made these in Large and X Large. We will be making more Outdoor vest soon, so keep checking our blog to find out what the next batch will look like.
